Yellow Canary #1 print.

It's not often that I get a newsletter, whip out my credit card and make a purchase all in the course of three minutes. This is one of those times. Thanks 20x200.

Holy cow. I am swamped.

Apologies for the lack of link-ity goodness, kids. My workload has gone berserk. I'm up to my eyeballs in site maps and wireframes and web strategies (oh, my). Consider this my handwritten Hallmark card with pretty stamp to let you know I'm thinking of you...

Tokyo Dunk (Giant Panda) Sneakers.

My pal, Tim, gave me a heads-up on these, knowing that what an all-out panda nerd I am.

Being athletically inept, I don't pay much attention to the footwear, but I want some of these. Click the image to see the full furry awesomeness.

Made me look.

In 2007, there's still a place called "Jim Crow Rd." It runs through a typical southern neighborhood, past a strip mall with a Curves franchise, a few gated McMansions, a small country store, and the white houses seen here.

The road crosses behind an Elementary school, right past the playground. One wonders if the kids there are still being taught what Jim Crow means, in Hall County, which adjoins Forsyth County, known for its infamous "sundown town" that existed well until the '80s.

Grown in transit.

Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Agata Jaworska's project Made in Transit, aims to eliminate the wasted time and trapped inventory in many supply chains by actually growing produce en route to the store. Jaworska's concept aims to move from best before, preservative packaging to ready by, cultivational packaging which consumers would open when the product was ready for consumption. Jaworska's first example would grow mushrooms on the way to the supermarket.

Fun product promo/contest.

This is a really easy, fun promo. Write a little saying, submit it and, if enough people like it, maybe it will show up on a billboard in NY's Meatpacking District.

recyclable packaging is happy packaging.

So cute.

Due to the popularity of my recyclable packaging is happy packaging characters, I have decided to draw up a series of limited edition original artworks. Though just how many I decide to draw will depend largely on the interest I receive. Each illustration will feature different little characters unique to that piece.

To keep with the theme, all of the pieces will be drawn on recycled envelopes.

How could you NOT love this?

It's a ramen spork!

Originally created for use at the popular Sugakiya ramen noodle restaurant chain in Japan, this combination fork-spoon easily twists noodles and ladles soup. Ecologically, it was intended to eliminate the waste created by disposal chopsticks.

Earring Shrines.

I could use a few of these little beauties. Maybe then my cats would quit swiping my earrings & using them as cat toys...

Made of recycled wood and metal, the perfect solution for those beauties you keep tangled up in a box. Hang as many as 25 pairs of earrings on the wire and drape your necklaces and bracelets over the metal handle...perfect!

Fatherhood Involvement campaign.

I'm SUCH a fan of the Ad Council Creative: Great Ads. Good Causes. newsletter. Seeing ads that aren't just about selling something is a breath of fresh air.

The "Cheerleader" ad made me grin this morning.

A majority of Americans have identified the absence of the father from the home as the most significant family or social problem facing America. In a lighthearted manner, this campaign demonstrates the critical role fathers play in their children's lives, and provides information on becoming a better dad.

I was intrigued by Amy Stein's photos back when I saw them on swissmiss last year, and am still digging her stuff. Such odd themes. A strange mix of mundane, peculiar, sad and almost funny, all at once. Really lovely.
