The Heads of State "Star Trek" 50th Anniversary Stamps

I was already a fan of The Heads of State's work, but now they've given me one more reason to love them – these fab Star Trek USPS stamps. I'm gonna buy a lot of these. Like, a LOT a lot.

The Pantone Color Factory

I saw this before Christmas, but forgot to post it. So lovely.

Designers and artists all over the world use Pantone’s color guides to make sure their blue is actually blue. Like a Webster’s dictionary for color, Pantone guides are a standard against which anyone can check their own work. Those standards are created at Pantone’s factory headquarters in Carlstadt, New Jersey. In this video, Quartz talks to the workers who maintain and enforce those standards.

Farenheit 451 book cover design by Elizabeth Perez.

Perfect.

Fahrenheit 451 is a novel about a dystopian future where books are outlawed and firemen burn any house that contains them. The story is about suppressing ideas, and about how television destroys interest in reading literature.I wanted to spread the book-burning message to the book itself. The book's spine is screen-printed with a matchbook striking paper surface, so the book itself can be burned.

Brand logos by Antrepo.

Minimal and beautiful.

The pared-down logos found on vintage Japanese cameras inspired Istanbul-based design consultancy Antrepo to create conceptual minimal logos for web brands like Facebook, Google and YouTube...

A Creative Catharsis.

Ireland's creative community have gotten together to release a lot of pent-up anger and sadness through the medium of the A3 poster, all in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Ad creatives, designers, animators, directors, illustrators and more have taken time out to dress up their favourite worst feedback from clients, transforming quotes that would normally give you a twitch, into a diverse collection of posters.

Project Wisconsin. 365 Towns. 365 Logos

Giving a little love to my home state designers here. Such a great project; so well done. I can't wait for Horicon and Beaver Dam, my childhood stomping grounds.

There is more to Wisconsin than our cheese, beer, and outright refusal to ever take the last fried cheese curd before making sure it's okay with everyone else at the table first.

In 2012, we are setting out to explore our roots and our creative sides, branding our beautiful state…a town a day for 365 days.

Finding a Cover for 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.'

Spending a lot of time in airports, on the street and in coffee shops in the last few weeks, I've seen this book A LOT lately. (I'm on the second book now.) The cover design is so iconic – and the series is so good – it actually lifts your heart a little to see other people reading it.

I also love that the design had enough room to become a brand for the series. I've been in/seen plenty of conversations sparked by people recognizing the design. So HUGE props to Peter Mendelsund, the designer, for a success few people ever experience.

(Be sure to follow the link in the article to see the alternate designs.)

Wish swissmiss a Happy 5th Blog Birthday.

C'mon. Send her a mugshot. (I did.)

Take a photo of yourself holding up a sign saying where you're from, your url, twitter name or any birthday message for swissmiss that you wouldn't mind displayed on a huge giant screen. The photos in this group will be rotating on the screen during her blog birthday event.

Join in the fun – Flickr: swissmiss = 5 Pool

p.s. The pic I'm holding up is Tina & I canoeing/conquering nature forever ago in my hometown, Horicon, WI. Blue Heron Landing is a fantastic, cheap place to rent canoes there, so I'm giving 'em a little bloggity love.

Limited edition Saul Bass print.

It's a shame the shipping costs from the UK are almost as much as the purchase price. It's gorgeous.
