Live abroad in your own home.

These murals by PIXERS are breathtaking. Select one of their designs (FYI - they're not all travel-related) or create your own. Daaaamn. So cool.

Not long ago, in a country where the average temperature is more suited to a polar bear, where the food is washed down with melting icicles and sarcastic smiles never disappear off people’s faces, there were two guys who had a different perception of the reality.

During one, particularly heavy, December night spent in the company of Mr. Jack Daniel’s, they realised just how sad and ugly were the walls surrounding them. They later noticed that it wasn’t just their walls that were mutilated by miserable copies of famous paintings, the atrocity happened all over the country!

“F*ck! I can’t look at yet another Mona Lisa!!” exclaimed one to the other, this time accompanied by Mr. Johnnie Walker. The following day PIXERS was born and the world became a different place.

Brooklyn Toile wallpaper.

I'm completely mesmerized by this wallpaper, commissioned by Mike D. of the Beastie Boys.

Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys decided he wanted a Brooklyn inspired toile wallpaper that would line the walls of his Brooklyn brownstone. The vision was to pay tribute to all things Brooklyn in a way that would appear to be a traditional French Country Toile, but when you step to it the pattern reveals elements and vignettes that make up the truth about Brooklyn. Mike approached Vincent J. Ficarra and Adela Qersaqi of Revolver New York to help execute his vision artistically and Flavor Paper to produce the design as wallpaper. Due to the level of detail and shading in Vincent’s design we decided to produce the Brooklyn Toile as a digital print, but stay tuned as it may be revised into a hand screened print soon!

Brooklyn Toile captures many angles of life in the King’s borough from Coney Island to Hasidic Jews to Notorious B.I.G., the design covers many of the aspects of daily life dealing with subways and pigeons in a poetic way. Go on and get some!!!

Ms. Ward wallpaper.

Quite possibly the weirdest wallpaper I've ever seen, but read about it below. So cool.

Mary Ward (1827-1869) was encouraged to nurture her love of nature from a young age. Born into to a renowned scientific family in Co. Offaly, Ireland, she was educated at home with her sisters and by the age of three had developed a penchant for collecting bugs.

These insects became the subject of study for Mary, and with the help of a magnifying glass she began meticulously drawing and reproducing their details. By a stroke of luck, astronomer James South discovered the drawings, and was so impressed with her talent that he persuaded her father to invest in a microscope.

This opportunity was a turning point in Mary's life. Owning her own microscope allowed her to transform her love of insects into full-blown, self-taught microscopy. She spent her time reading everything she could get her hands on regarding the subject, and became so skilled that her knowledge surpassed that of most experts. Over the years she wrote a series of books, of which A World of Wonders Revealed by the Microscope (1858) was reprinted eight times. It became a go-to student text in the field of microscopy, which considering her sex, is truly representative of her talent.

Further distinctions include her work as an illustrator for scientific publications, and her significant status as one of just three female recipients of the Royal Astronomical Society's newsletter (of the other two women, one was Queen Victoria).

True to her love of scale, this pattern blends late-Georgian silhouettes with over-sized insects; an entomologist's dream.

I wish I could type a flapping bird wing noise here.

A lot of people are freaked out by birds. Me, I love 'em. So this wallpaper caught my eye. Beautiful. I wish I could post a larger pic.

Graham & Brown wallpaper at Target.

I didn't realize that Target now carries Graham & Brown, who makes beautifully-designed, high-end wallpapers. Target's, however, is much more reasonable than buying it at a design retailer.

I particularly love this mosaic tile wallpaper.

Montgomery Ward still exists?

I had no idea until I stumbled across it. This Asian wall mural is kind of intriguing for the price.

This Oriental Garden mural features a painterly, stylized Asian scene that includes trees with song birds, rhododendron bushes in full bloom, pagoda, and Chinese Chippendale details. Product is pre-pasted, strippable and scrubbable. Available in 2 sizes. The small version comes in 7 panels and the large version comes in 10 panels.
