NASA-Commissioned Posters by Invisible Creature

So. Cool. They were commissioned for NASA staff and insiders, but you can buy them from the designers as well.
When our buddy Joby Harris, a visual strategist at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, asked us if we were interested in creating ‘travel posters’ for NASA last Fall, well … given our family history, you can only imagine how we responded. We are very honored and lucky to have worked on such an amazing project.
These 3 commissioned pieces are part of JPL’s Visions Of The Future 2016 Calendar – an internal gift to JPL and NASA staff, as well as scientists, engineers, government and university staff.

Orange Fox by Mark McGinnis

This is the perfect print to cheer me up on a dreary day. Lovely.

Although compositionally simple, each print is comprised of several parts—the graphic is screen-printed on 140 lb. arches watercolor paper, after which McGinnis fills the colored print with a hand-drawn line sketch, ensuring that no two prints are exactly the same. From there, the 100 percent cotton paper is mounted and framed in an ash wood frame. Each print in the series, like this Orange Fox, can be used on its own, or coordinated with other prints in the series to create a menagerie of wall art. Each limited edition print is exclusive to the Dwell Store and is signed on the left side of the print, and numbered on the right.

Shipping Forecast print.

A beautiful, if pricey, print from my favorite little shop in Brighton (UK).

FYI: I cannot stress this enough – if you ever find yourself in Brighton (on the south coast of England), make sure you stop at Castor+Pollux. It is the loveliest little shop, nestled in arches under the street. I love, love, love this shop. They have an beautiful selection of jewelry (and I don't usually get excited about jewelry) and an incredible selection of prints. (A lot of the gorgeous posters from their own exhibits are only £5!)

Paris vs New York.

Lot of fun graphic prints for Francophiles and Yankophiles. (I think I just made that last word up.)

Cheap DIY clip frames.

Do you (like I do) have a closet full of prints and artwork that've been there for ages because you can't bite the spendy bullet to get it framed?

You might want to check out DIY Picture Framing – they have good ol' glass clip frames on the cheap. I finally got around to framing a few 18x24 prints that I've had for ages (like the Public School print, above, and this Skinny Ships print). Two frames = $36 with shipping.

I feel so much better.

Flavorwire: Quirky New Posters for Jacques Tati’s ‘Mon Oncle’

Ever since I saw my first Jacques Tati film poster hanging in a D.C. restaurant years ago, I've been completely in love with almost every one I've seen. So, this little collection of JT posters makes me all giddy. Enjoy.

Eat Breakfast.

Yes, pizza IS a completely acceptable breakfast.

"East Breakfast" is an offset lithograph poster designed by Always With Honor for Advice to Sink in Slowly. Advice to Sink in Slowly is an ongoing series of posters designed by college graduates for the purpose of passing on advice and inspiration to incoming students. A free advice poster is available on request to first year students across the UK.

The printing, packaging and postage costs are covered through the sale of fund raising posters such as this one. All proceeds from the sale of these releases goes towards distributing free posters to students throughout the autumn semester. Put simply, the more that sell, the more posters they can give out for free.

Tiny Showcase.

One of the few newsletters I look forward to every week is the one I get from online print store, Tiny Showcase. I ran across this quote yesterday (I've had it in my Facebook quotes section for yonks) and had to share.

Personally, I think they should sell letterpress prints of their own newsletter copy. It's as good as any of their prints (and that's saying something.)

Jon and Shea, I heart you.
