Bowie-inspired boots.

I loved this photo (of YSL Spring 2014 boots). on Iman's Instagram feed. Vogue published it as part of a birthday tribute to Bowie just last Saturday. Who knew it would serve as a memorial less than a week later?  Sad and strange. Goodnight, Mr. Jones.

Dessa || Sound The Bells (Official Video)

Dessa's 2010 release, A Badly Broken Code, is definitely one of my Desert Island Discs. Her newly released video for "Sound the Bells" just fans the fires of my admiration for her.

The song, foretelling a shipwreck, is augmented by images of underwater sculptures by English sculptor, Jason deCaires Taylor, located off Isla Mujeres, on the Yucatan Peninsula. Stunning.

Brooklyn Toile wallpaper.

I'm completely mesmerized by this wallpaper, commissioned by Mike D. of the Beastie Boys.

Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys decided he wanted a Brooklyn inspired toile wallpaper that would line the walls of his Brooklyn brownstone. The vision was to pay tribute to all things Brooklyn in a way that would appear to be a traditional French Country Toile, but when you step to it the pattern reveals elements and vignettes that make up the truth about Brooklyn. Mike approached Vincent J. Ficarra and Adela Qersaqi of Revolver New York to help execute his vision artistically and Flavor Paper to produce the design as wallpaper. Due to the level of detail and shading in Vincent’s design we decided to produce the Brooklyn Toile as a digital print, but stay tuned as it may be revised into a hand screened print soon!

Brooklyn Toile captures many angles of life in the King’s borough from Coney Island to Hasidic Jews to Notorious B.I.G., the design covers many of the aspects of daily life dealing with subways and pigeons in a poetic way. Go on and get some!!!

Cassette Tape Coffee Table.

If you know me, you know I love giant things. So this giant-ass mixtape coffee table is right up my alley. (Not a fan of the metal legs, but the table itself is pretty sweet.)

The Cassette Table is hand crafted with hardwood with a specially designed vinyl label that is sealed and protected with a clear epoxy coating. Stainless steel cup holders give the tape dimension. The front shelf, protected by a magnetically clasped wooden tape-run, offers a practical storage space for remotes and magazines while amping up the nostalgic look of the cassette tape. The Cassette Table is 42" x 26" x 15".

Metal Letters SOUL light fixture.

WANT.

This listing is for an SOUL or any four letter word:) sign in 18 inch tall letters. The sign can hang outdoors or indoors. I can send them with no bracket on the back or weld a bar on the back for a wall mount. The brackets will have a hole in them so you can screw it into your wall. I can also make custom fonts and logos, whatever you can think of really. The letters are like my arrow signs I make with marble rusty sheet metal. They are sturdy and you can hang them up, or you can mount them on the wall. The sign is meant for dry/damp use, so if it was covered it would be best.

Angela Rossi's plates are the best. I think I've bought six of them now (for myself or as presents). This one is a custom order.

Like plastic green army men, but better.

I know a few folks who will dig on these. Available at Kid Robot starting 9/15.

Straight out of the South Bronx, Kidrobot’s first series of All City Breakers celebrates the best dance style born from 70’s hip-hop culture. Individually foil-wrapped and blind, each b-boy and b-girl’s punctuated move is captured perfectly in plastic – a stylized freeze. Injection-molded and inspired by the retro but classic green army men and their solid plastic bases, these breakers flaunt moves from Power to Flex in four neon colors: pink, green orange and blue. Each 2-inch art piece is paired with boombox to deliver the beat. No matter what your style, you’re gonna want to choreograph a collection of your own.

Lady Gaga - Telephone (illustrated remix)

Brilliant illustration set by Andrew Kolb.

So moved, I was, by this tale of pestering that I only saw it fit to create a 50's style children's book in honour of it.

TuneIn Radio.

When I was in high school and college, I had a short/medium wave radio that completely enthralled me. Being able to listen to music and news from all over the world (depending on the weather) was absolutely mindblowing to me. The TuneIn Radio app ($1.99) gives me that exact same feeling. It's AMAZING. Want to listen to pop from Antarctica? Go for it. Almost every BBC local and national station? It's there. Want to record a show to listen to later? Just hit the Record button. I can't tell you how much I love this app.

If you love radio, check it out. It even works in thunderstorms. :)

Help Olga make an album.

She's adorable and talented. (I couldn't resist after watching the video.)

About this project

LAMP is a full-length album by Olga Nunes-- and it's also a story built around the music, told through letters, art installations, and short films. In Chapter One of LAMP, you are introduced to Lamp and Lux, two people who haven't spoken to each other in a very long time. One day Lux receives a package that she thinks can only have come from him. So, she decides to write him a letter. The only problem is, she doesn't know how or where to find him-- so she puts a message in a bottle, ties it to a balloon, and releases it into the sky.

What happens next? I want you to be part of the story.

Every person who donates to the LAMP Kickstarter (to help turn the album and story into reality!) will be invited to submit their old love letters, and help create the backstory of Lamp and Lux. Additionally, I'm holding a balloon release event in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, where people (and maybe you!) will release one hundred of Lux's letters into the sky. Not in SF? No problem. I'll be documenting all the letters in the story and filming the event, so you can follow it through YouTube and through the website.

My minimum target goal to raise through Kickstarter is $3000-- which covers the bare minimum needed for mastering, album production, and part of the costs to create and film Chapter One. The more you donate and the more backers I have, the more you ensure there will be a Chapter Two and Chapter Three, and you get to see how this all ends. There are lots of rewards to choose from if you decide to support LAMP, and if I exceed my minimum goal, I'll begin introducing super special secret unlocked rewards.

You can listen to more of my music here: http://olganunes.bandcamp.com
And you can see a special trailer for Chapter One of LAMP, including part of the first single, in the video above.
