Youth Intelligence :: Volunteer vacation grants

Youth Intelligence
, a premier research and trend analysis service for the youth market, is offering three grants to individuals (over 18 years old) who would like to participate in a volunteer vacation. In return, they only require that you write about your experience.

Having participated in a volunteer vacation in Seoul, I can tell you it's an amazing and eye-opening experience. And, honestly, it's a good way to travel for an extended period of time on very little money, if you're paying your own way. (A bit like bartering your time/energy for room & board.) With this grant, it would be virtually free.

From the Youth Intelligence email:

We have felt for some time that there are many among you who want to make a difference in the world, who want to serve on both local and global levels, but at times have felt a disconnect whether it be financial or logistical. And so we are launching The Intelligence Group’s Volunteer Vacation Grant Program.

Because this program was inspired by many of you who have expressed passion for specific causes, the application will be a creative sharing of your passion for a particular cause. Based on the quality and effectiveness of communicating your passion through these pieces we will select three of you to choose a “volunteer vacation” program that resonates with you, through either Amizade (http://amizade.org/) or Global Volunteers (http://globalvolunteers.org/), which we will fund. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of five of us.

Remember, this program was inspired by many of you who have expressed passion for specific causes and a desire to make a difference. Awardees will be asked to document their Volunteer Vacation experiences (for our daily email trendcentral), in the hopes that your experiences will inspire service among others.

How to apply: Submit a creative piece that shares your interest in a cause and/or specific program offered by Amizade or Global Volunteers. This can be in the form of film, writing, art, music, etc. and you can of course, make it multimedia if you wish. If you can’t send your submission electronically, you can send to

Volunteer Vacation Review Committee
The Intelligence Group
162 Fifth Ave., 6th Floor
New York, NY 10010

Deadline: Must be e-mailed/postmarked by August 9th
Awardees will be selected by September 6th.

Unfortunately, because of legal restrictions, this program is only open to applicants ages 18 and over.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We look forward to seeing your applications!
