I think "waste" is the bits of cheese that are left over on the party tray that's still sitting out hours after your summer bbq soiree has ended. You know -- the stuff that's all sweaty that no one wants to eat. The stuff you feel terrible throwing away, but you're kind of convinced it might not be quite safe to eat any more. That waste.
