Lost in Emoticons.

I've had a bad day, but this site just made it way better.

Lost in Emoticons is a collection of IM's between a young girl living it up in NYC and her Chinese mom's attempt to communicate with her. – yesbutnobutyes

Yes, I am alive.

Sorry about the hiatus. I had a date in Tampa with a blond, blue-eyed boy with a great smile. It couldn't wait.

Anyway, my vacay prep ran right up to the last minute before I left. No time for goodbyes. But I'm back and will post soon. Hang in there, chums.

Learning important stuff from my brother.

Here are the things I learned that night, in fairly rapid succession:

(1.) Hornets can live in the ground. I guess I never had cause to think about that previous to Sunday.

(2.) Hornets don't like to be mowed. This I might have guessed, but again, I hadn't much thought about the likes and dislikes of hornets before Sunday.

(3.) Getting stung by hornets is a decidedly unpleasant thing. Just how unpleasant, I had grossly underestimated throughout the many years in which I paid little attention to hornets.

(4) The actual being-stung-by-hornets is, oddly, the EASY part of being stung by hornets. The hard part of being stung by hornets doesn't reveal itself until much later.

Is there a proofreader in the house?

My brother sent me this picture of my great-niece's birthday party. He specifically said to check out the banner. I laaaaughed...

A new member of the tribe.

Normally I wouldn't post a pic just for the sake of announcing that I have a new great-nephew. However, this one is a champ. 8 lbs, 15 oz. One day old and SMILING. Daaaang.

Congratulations to my niece, Sarah, mother of the champ; my bro, Michael, (above with the fabulous blue eyes); and my niece Katy (who's still reeling and giddy from watching a giant baby come out of her tiny sister).

Now I'm praying that Aidan will be a total rock star like Czeltic Girl's niece.

p.s. No, Monk - I don't think they're going to mail him to you as a birthday present. Even for one hundred American dollars. Sorry.
