Hard learned lessons in marketing.

The bigger the effort to woo the client, the more embarrassing the consequences if your bid fails.

It's not looking good, but good luck anyway, NY. You can always remove the sign and stomp on it.

Big-ass Olympic Bid sign

Well, except all they did was put the ad up over the existing clock and mess with the clock a bit to change how it ran.

The clock is part of the Metronome art installation at Union Square. (Slightly better view of part of the clock doing its regular thing here.) At least the Olympic clock was easy to read, as opposed to the way the thing normally runs. (There should be a description in the Fact Sheet section of that first link.)

But still, slapping a big Olympic ad over the clock is a bit on the embarrassing side now. Mind you, there are Olympic bid ads about every 3 feet in the city at the moment.
