Signs of Affection project.

If I ran the world, most of the design industry would be busy making/doing stuff like this.

Established in May 2010, the Signs of Affection project aims to make the walls talk. Short positive messages are placed in public spaces around the world to be seen by thousands. To get involved you can submit a few words [...] If your entry is chosen it will be designed, screen-printed and sent to you all for free! Copies will also be sent across the world to be pasted-up on the walls of other cities.

Go on – submit an idea to The Signs of Affection Project.

Flavorwire: Quirky New Posters for Jacques Tati’s ‘Mon Oncle’

Ever since I saw my first Jacques Tati film poster hanging in a D.C. restaurant years ago, I've been completely in love with almost every one I've seen. So, this little collection of JT posters makes me all giddy. Enjoy.

Japanese Amelie poster.

Looking through this Apartment Therapy house tour, I fell in love with the Japanese/French Amelie poster. (And all the mid-century modern furniture surrounding it.)

After a quick search, I found out you can pick one up for about $10. Cool.

Support your local indie bookstore.

I saw a few of these while I was shopping at my lovely neighborhood bookstore, Boswell Book Company (aka the old Schwartz on Downer - RIP), and completely fell in love. Turns out, you can buy them online.

p.s. Just a personal plea to my gorgeous readers - this holiday season, please, PLEASE support your local indie bookstore. Indies are all about a genuine passion for books and reading. They give back to the community, and their service is usually fabulous. A booming Christmas season will help them get through the more difficult times the rest of the year. The bonus is that, when you're really stressed out about the holidays, nothing is better for getting your heart rate back to normal than wandering around a pretty little bookstore.

Alvin Ailey poster.

Their site & overall design feels very late 80s/early 90s, but this is beautiful.

(Someone in NY please give them a branding facelift!)

Light Years by Michael Bierut.

One of the most stunning type posters I've seen. If there was a re-print, my credit card would be out already.

The World of 100 : Toby Ng Design.

Thoughtful and though-provoking infographics posters from the tremendously-talented Toby Ng.

This is a self-initiated project based on the scenario – If the world were a village of 100 people. There are a few different versions of this text in circulation about the world’s statistics. I found the data very striking and neatly summarises the world that we live in. So I used information graphics to re-tell the story in another creative way. I designed a set of 20 posters, which contain most of the information. I used simple vector graphics that related to a statistic in order to present the information in the simplest and most accessible way.

AllPosters.com really does have a kick-ass selection of vintage posters. I've had my eye on this one for awhile.
