Alan Wolfson: "KATZ'S DELI / CLOSING TIME" (2012)

My friend Bradley turned me on to Alan Wolfson's magnificent miniature sculptures. The detail is mindboggling, and the subjects are always strangely charming. (I particularly love the little Patti Smith gig poster detail in the last photo. Click the image to embiggen it.)

Typewriter Lamp.

I could never buy this because I'd never be able to keep cat hair out of it. But, man, do I love this lamp.

James Bond Skyfall cufflinks.

Do you know a special someone who loves James Bond? Do you have buckets of cash to get rid of quickly? If so, you need to buy these film prop cufflinks from Christies' James Bond auction. So cool.

A pair of black enamel coat-of-arms cufflinks by Tom Ford worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Skyfall.

Each circular plaque with central Bond family coat-of-arms bearing the motto "Orbit Non Sufficit" (The World Is Not Enough) within a black enamel surround, each signed Tom Ford.

Approximately 30 pairs of these cufflinks were made by Tom Ford for the film.
Bond's family coat of arms is first seen in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and features again in Skyfall.

A murphy bunk bed.

The price is completely ridiculous ($3300 for a plywood bed?), but it's REALLY cool. Letsee how long it takes IKEA to knock it off.

A Brief History of Emeco’s 1006 Chair

A lovely little post on Design Public's blog about one of my fave chairs. (One of my first days at our design firm, I noticed these chairs in the lunchroom and thought, "Hey, those are the chairs on Homicide!" Anything that can be used in "the box" and high-end boutique hotels is ace in my book.)
