A Creative Catharsis.

Ireland's creative community have gotten together to release a lot of pent-up anger and sadness through the medium of the A3 poster, all in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Ad creatives, designers, animators, directors, illustrators and more have taken time out to dress up their favourite worst feedback from clients, transforming quotes that would normally give you a twitch, into a diverse collection of posters.

Letter cards.

Sweet.

Twig Terrarium: Forensics in the Flora

I know it's wrong to want this, but I've invested so much time in Bones and Law & Order that I can't help it.

The Bedford – Wicker Park Chicago.

I need to go to here. What an amazing location for a restaurant!

Mini Morse code satellite.

Science is cool. I might need to learn Morse code.

A couple of months ago we reported on the ArduSat project, which aimed to enable anyone to control a CubeSat orbiting space. Using similar technology, the FITSAT-1 developed by researchers at the Fukuoka Institute of Technology in Japan houses LEDs that can create a morse code message that can be seen from earth.

FILMography.

My brother sent this site to me, knowing that I'd love it. I do. Especially since the first photo that I saw when I went there was a photo with Cary Grant from "That Touch of Mink" (I have a serious weakness for this particular Doris Day movie). The other photos below are from "Godspell" and "The Fisher King," two other faves of mine. I could spend hours on this site.

All photos by Christopher Moloney, aka @Moloknee.

BRAUN SK55 Vintage Record Player w/ AM-FM Radio

This is an absolute beauty.

Vintage 1960s Braun Record phonograph and 3 band radio with a tube amplifier in fully working and good looking condition. Designed by Dieter Rams and Hans Gugelot, it's an industrial design & audio milestone. This music system was part of the traveling exhibit "Less and More: The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams" and is part of the permanent collection of MoMA. The player has been professionally restored replacing capacitors and resistors as needed to reduce hum, get good radio reception and play records correctly. All tubes were tested good for good emission. Control pots have been sprayed so they are quiet when turned. A new phonograph needle was installed.

Adorbs.

It's preventative medicine for outlet shocks! Keep your kids and pets safe from being electrocuted with our Ouchlets. Just toss them into any inviting outlet to let kids know that a bandage equals an ouchie! We weren’t going to say it, but here it goes… keep your sometimes dim-witted better-half safe with these whimsically designed outlet covers. Set of four.

Alan Wolfson: "KATZ'S DELI / CLOSING TIME" (2012)

My friend Bradley turned me on to Alan Wolfson's magnificent miniature sculptures. The detail is mindboggling, and the subjects are always strangely charming. (I particularly love the little Patti Smith gig poster detail in the last photo. Click the image to embiggen it.)

Typewriter Lamp.

I could never buy this because I'd never be able to keep cat hair out of it. But, man, do I love this lamp.

James Bond Skyfall cufflinks.

Do you know a special someone who loves James Bond? Do you have buckets of cash to get rid of quickly? If so, you need to buy these film prop cufflinks from Christies' James Bond auction. So cool.

A pair of black enamel coat-of-arms cufflinks by Tom Ford worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Skyfall.

Each circular plaque with central Bond family coat-of-arms bearing the motto "Orbit Non Sufficit" (The World Is Not Enough) within a black enamel surround, each signed Tom Ford.

Approximately 30 pairs of these cufflinks were made by Tom Ford for the film.
Bond's family coat of arms is first seen in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and features again in Skyfall.

A murphy bunk bed.

The price is completely ridiculous ($3300 for a plywood bed?), but it's REALLY cool. Letsee how long it takes IKEA to knock it off.

A Brief History of Emeco’s 1006 Chair

A lovely little post on Design Public's blog about one of my fave chairs. (One of my first days at our design firm, I noticed these chairs in the lunchroom and thought, "Hey, those are the chairs on Homicide!" Anything that can be used in "the box" and high-end boutique hotels is ace in my book.)
