James Bond Skyfall cufflinks.
Do you know a special someone who loves James Bond? Do you have buckets of cash to get rid of quickly? If so, you need to buy these film prop cufflinks from Christies' James Bond auction. So cool.
A pair of black enamel coat-of-arms cufflinks by Tom Ford worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Skyfall.
Each circular plaque with central Bond family coat-of-arms bearing the motto "Orbit Non Sufficit" (The World Is Not Enough) within a black enamel surround, each signed Tom Ford.
Approximately 30 pairs of these cufflinks were made by Tom Ford for the film.
Bond's family coat of arms is first seen in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and features again in Skyfall.

A murphy bunk bed.
The price is completely ridiculous ($3300 for a plywood bed?), but it's REALLY cool. Letsee how long it takes IKEA to knock it off.

A Brief History of Emeco’s 1006 Chair
A lovely little post on Design Public's blog about one of my fave chairs. (One of my first days at our design firm, I noticed these chairs in the lunchroom and thought, "Hey, those are the chairs on Homicide!" Anything that can be used in "the box" and high-end boutique hotels is ace in my book.)

Comic-Con Art: Story Posters by Mark Gonyea
For those of you that don't know me, I'm unabashedly nerdy. I love Doctor Who and Torchwood and Battlestar Galactica and Firefly and Buffy. I have SyFy favorited. I've known the Three Laws of Robotics since I was 10. You get the gist. Soooo, I just got back from my third San Diego Comic-Con, a joyous four-day celebration/circus of sci fi, comics, video games, TV, movies, indie press, art... SO much great stuff, if you're a total dork like me.
ANYway – while roaming the aisles, I saw a booth with these amazing design-y nerdy prints by Mark Gonyea. Less than $10 (!!!), signed by the artist and so, so, so full of win. I picked up the following for my pals at work. There are loads more, and he has an etsy shop. I highly recommend you check him out for the nerd in your life.
p.s. I totally saw Martin Freeman, whom I lovelovelove in Sherlock. He was there because he's got a little film coming out this December.

Evan Robertson's literary giclée prints.
Illustrator and lover of literature Evan Robertson is a modern day Renaissance man. Each of the giclée prints that make up Obvious State, combines a favorite quote and one of Robertson’s stunning original illustrations. Tortured artists, English majors, and bookworms will love this collection of poignant prints.

250,000 Bees Find A Home Atop the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan | Inhabitat New York City
This is just so cool. (Hopefully none of their staff is allergic to bee stings.)
250,000 Bees Find A Home Atop the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan | Inhabitat New York City
The 20th floor of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria now accommodates some rather unusual residents — around 250,000 bees living on the roof of the prestigious hotel. Transported to their new midtown Manhattan digs by a Lincoln Towncar, the pollinating inhabitants of the six beehives were placed there to support the PlaNYC initiative to plant 1,000,000 new trees over the next decade. The hotel will benefit directly too, with their own in-house supply of sustainable honey!

"What Good..." Enamel Steel Sign
Oh, Best Made. You are the best.
Best Made Company — "What Good..." Enamel Steel Sign
In his autobiography Benjamin Franklin outlined a "Precept of Order, requiring that every part of my business should have its allotted time, one page in my little book contain'd the following scheme of employment for the twenty-four hours of a natural day." The first order of business in his precept was to ask himself simply, "What good shall I do this day?" With this concise introspection guiding him a great American luminary got cracking. What good shall you do this day? Whether it's nailed to the wall, leaned up against a bookshelf, or offered as an inspirational gift, we know that this enamel sign — designed with the original Best Made "Indicator" typeface — will lay the foundations to a virtuous day.

btdubs – I've been told by a reader (thanks, mcnamara!) that the quote image above is by Gina Loukareas in AisFor.org. I can't find the image there, but I'm going to assume no one would lie to me about this. :)

Dick Clark’s bizarre stone house.
Wow. I mean... wow.
According to Mental Floss, he really wanted to live in this location and designing it this way got it through building approvals in a park conservancy area. But that doesn't really explain the interior. Eek.

I've been seeing a CRAZY amount of Beyoncés lately, so I keep thinking about this post by The Bloggess, Jenny Lawson. It is, quite honestly, pure wonder and genius. I'm re-posting it in the hope that I can spread joy to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
