Log & Squirrel Flowerpot.

Hee hee. Love this little guy. The squirrel pops up when the plant has water, and disappears when it doesn't. Useful and adorbs.

Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum needs help. FAST.

If you're a Wisconsin designer, you already know about the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum in Two Rivers. It's a beautiful place, housing a HUGE collection of historic wood type. They also hold workshops and exhibits celebrating and keeping alive this lovely, oft-forgotten manual medium.

Well, they need help, folks. Fast.
They're being evicted from their museum space – which means they have to pack up their 40K sq ft museum and find a new place to live on short notice. No small or inexpensive feat, this. (More information here.)
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1. Donate to and/or attend the AIGA WI Hamilton Museum Fundraiser.
AIGA Wisconsin is having a fundraiser for them in January. If you're a designer or artist who would like to donate work for this fundraiser, please email Chris Klein at AIGA Wisconsin.

Perhaps the greatest commercial of all time.

General Electric has released what might be the most epic robot-themed TV ad ever.

"Rudolph" Windows ads.

The dialogue and copy could be a bit more clever, but kudos to Windows for the art direction on their Rudolph ads.

Urban Shelf.

I'm completely in love with this little fire escape shelf, available from Chiasso (which I refuse to link to because their site is so cluttered and hideous).

Who doesn't need an emergency compliment once in a while? And framed versions are only $32. Nice gift.

Stitch the Stars 2013 Calendar Kit.

As a slightly more grown-up version of my stitch-card-loving younger self, I'm kind of in love with these.

Each month gets a glow-in-the-dark printed card; each card features its corresponding constellation (i.e., January is Capricorn). Using the glow-in-the-dark embroidery floss (it really works!) and the provided needle, simply poke and stitch to connect the dots, completing the constellation.

3D Printer Photo Booth Makes Figurines Instead of Photos

SO. Cool.

Tokyo’s stylish Harajuku district will soon be home to an unusual pop-up photo booth—customers will walk away not with photos, but with 3D printed figurines of themselves. The customer is first 3D scanned in a process that requires them to stand still for 15 minutes. A 3D model of the customer is then refined on a computer before output to a 3D printer. The figurines are available in sizes ranging from 4 to 8 inches.

Metal Letters SOUL light fixture.

WANT.

This listing is for an SOUL or any four letter word:) sign in 18 inch tall letters. The sign can hang outdoors or indoors. I can send them with no bracket on the back or weld a bar on the back for a wall mount. The brackets will have a hole in them so you can screw it into your wall. I can also make custom fonts and logos, whatever you can think of really. The letters are like my arrow signs I make with marble rusty sheet metal. They are sturdy and you can hang them up, or you can mount them on the wall. The sign is meant for dry/damp use, so if it was covered it would be best.

Shipping Forecast print.

A beautiful, if pricey, print from my favorite little shop in Brighton (UK).

FYI: I cannot stress this enough – if you ever find yourself in Brighton (on the south coast of England), make sure you stop at Castor+Pollux. It is the loveliest little shop, nestled in arches under the street. I love, love, love this shop. They have an beautiful selection of jewelry (and I don't usually get excited about jewelry) and an incredible selection of prints. (A lot of the gorgeous posters from their own exhibits are only £5!)

Longman & Eagle.

I'm so excited that I'm going to have a birthday dinner and stay at Chicago's Longman & Eagle in December.

Reader peeps - has anyone been? What's the verdict? As good as it looks?
