The Hello Wall.

If I were to write a crime novel, I would SO use this as a plot device to help my fleeing protagonists communicate.

Wasted Spaces commissioned London-based artist duo Hellicar & Lewis to develop The Hello Wall.

The installation went live this Monday, March 8th. It uses Twitter to let the public interact with the huge wall projection on Wembley High Road.

Until Sunday March 14th, you can get interact with this live artwork by Tweeting commands to @thehellowall. You can use shapes (triangles, squares, circles), commands (more, less, shake) or just say hello@thehellowall.

The Hello Wall.

Looks like they're looking for another space for it now. Wish we could afford to bring it over here to shine on our office building...

'Duck Man' catches five ducklings before they crash to earth.

Two or three times every year, Joel Armstrong will look out his bank office window nervously, waiting for the sign. When he hears a mother duck quacking from the ground, he'll rush outside and start catching newborn chicks from the air, as they tumble one after another from their nest above.– Mental Floss

GEORGE pet products sale.

I'm posting this solely because I have SUCH a soft spot for this shop. Years ago, when I was doing research on DIY shopping sites, I ran across GEORGE. They're scrappy, have the sweetest design aesthetic, and they fully recognized the potential of pleasing pet product design before it became "a thing." I love them.

And how cute is this graphic??

piggy.

A lovely concept well executed.

Piggy is a set of two savings banks that nest together. The larger “momma” bank is for a child’s personal savings, and the smaller bank is for the child's charitable savings.

Perfection.

A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. РAntoine de Saint-Exup̩ry

Ghastly Find Has LAPD Brushing Up On History.

This is SUCH a great story.

"Two infant skeletons wrapped in 1930s newspapers and placed in doctor's bags were found inside an unclaimed steamer trunk by a woman cleaning out the basement of a 1924 building that's being converted to condominiums, authorities in Los Angeles said.

The skeletons, believed to be decades-old remains of fetuses or infants, were discovered late Tuesday in the 4-foot-tall green trunk inscribed with the initials JMB.

Other things found in the trunk included cigarettes, a green bowl, black and white photos, letters, a book club membership certificate inscribed Jean M. Barrie and ticket stubs from the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games."

Electric guitar paper model kit.

This kind of blows my mind.

This Electric Guitar L Model was designed by both paper engineers and professional musicians, so it’s a perfect replica of the real thing. You’ll see all the details you’d find on an electric guitar – tuning pegs, pick-ups, control knobs, bridge – this piece of paper art has it all! Pepakura is a musical instrument paper model series designed by HANDSON from Japan. It comes with illustrated instructions and 136 pre-cut parts ready to be assembled. No tedious scissor work is required. Approximate height when completed is 30cm.

70s Sci-Fi Was All About Hexagons.

So, so true.

Oh, the hexagons you’ll see, as you slurp up your soylent green and wait to be exterminated upon your thirtieth birthday. When you map out complex chemical compounds, there they’ll be. When you pour your cereal, you’ll eat it out of a hexagonal bowl. When you put on your androgynous silver jumpsuit, you’ll accessorize it with a hexagonal belt buckle.

Snow & Graham Accordian Calendar.

While they're a bit twee, I have a weakness for Snow & Graham. And I just picked up this calendar at my local paper store.

(I don't think I ever bought a calendar this early before. I hope I remember it at the end of the year. Someone remind me, okay?)

This accordion calendar folds down to just 3.5 x 2.5 inches, but when opened in all its glory this little guy is 30 inches long! We like to call it the micro wall calendar. The accordion calendar allows you to see all of 2011 in one view and 12 unique S&G designs, too.
